Legal Surveys

Under the British Columbia Land Surveyors Act only a practicing BC Land Surveyor is permitted to establish or re-establish a property boundary. Additionally, only a BC Land Surveyor may provide an opinion as to the location of a building or improvement relative to an existing or future parcel boundary or corner.

Legal surveys and plans prepared by BC Land Surveyors are governed by a number of provincial statutes including:

• Land Act
• Land Title Act
• Strata Property Act
• Mineral Tenure Act
• Oil & Gas Activities act

A BC Land Surveyor can prepare the following legal survey plans:

• Subdivisions
• Easements
• Rights-of-way
• Airspace parcels
• Strata plans including i.e. Forms V & W
• Amendments to strata plans
• Road dedications
• Lease plans
